Alex J. Champandard is a Vienna-based artificial intelligence researcher and engineer, co-founder of creative.ai and director of the nucl.ai conference on AI in creative industries, with earlier experience as a senior AI programmer at Rockstar and Guerrilla Games. In 2016 he published "Semantic Style Transfer and Turning Two-Bit Doodles into Fine Artworks" and released the open-source neural-doodle project, which turns rough colour doodles into finished paintings and became one of the most widely shared creative deep-learning tools of its era. He also ran the DeepForger bot, which produced "forgeries" of user photographs in the styles of famous painters using neural networks and an encyclopedia of paintings.
