Bård Ionson is an American artist, born in Colorado and based in Virginia, who came to art from a career as a software technologist after encountering Nam June Paik's sculpture 'Internet Dweller' in 2012. Working with oscilloscopes, GANs, CRTs, lasers, scanners and blockchains, he draws imagery with sound on oscilloscope screens and trains machine-learning models (Art-DCGAN, StyleGAN, Pix2Pix) on thousands of his own oscilloscope images. He entered the NFT space on SuperRare in 2018, making him one of the earliest artists minting GAN works on-chain, and his work has since been shown at venues including the Centre Pompidou, Kunsthalle Zürich and Oxford's Weston Library.
