David Young is an American artist based in New York who investigates how emerging technologies shape human perception, working with AI and, more recently, quantum computing. He holds a Master's in Visual Studies from the MIT Media Lab and a BA in Computer Science from UC Santa Cruz, and has taught at ArtCenter College of Design and Parsons School of Design. His GAN works, trained on small datasets of his own photographs of flowers and landscapes from his farm in Bovina, upstate New York, propose an intimate, beauty-seeking alternative to industrial-scale machine learning. His work is held in the collections of Kunstmuseum Bonn and Kunstsammlungen Chemnitz.
