DeepBlack, released by the BitAIrt Foundation, is billed as the first end-to-end artificial intelligence artist on the Ethereum blockchain: a generative adversarial network whose outputs were minted in 2019 with no human curation or review between generation and on-chain release. The collection is limited to 3,073 works, stored on IPFS and certified as ERC-721 tokens. Its name pays homage to Deep Blue, the chess computer that famously defeated a human world champion. Largely overlooked at release, the project was rediscovered by historical-NFT collectors in 2021-2022, when the community minted a collage of all 3,073 pieces as a tribute sent to Beeple.
