Gene Kogan is an artist and programmer working with artificial intelligence and generative systems. Originally a machine-learning researcher in music information retrieval at NYU (assistant researcher to Juan Pablo Bello until 2013), he turned to generative art and became one of the field's most influential educators, developing ml4a (Machine Learning for Artists) from 2016 to 2021 and giving over 200 workshops worldwide. His 'A Book from the Sky' (2015) was an early artistic experiment with DCGANs, and his work has been shown at venues including Ars Electronica, the Toronto International Film Festival, and Fotomuseum Winterthur. He is the creator of Abraham, a project to build a decentralized autonomous artificial artist.
