Helena Sarin is a Moscow-born visual artist and software engineer based in the United States. She studied computer science at Moscow Civil Engineering University, worked at Bell Labs designing commercial communication systems, and later developed computer vision software with deep learning as an independent consultant. After years of parallel analog practice in watercolor, pastel and photography, she adopted generative adversarial networks as her primary medium, training GANs exclusively on her own drawings and photographs - a practice she calls 'neural bricolage.' Her work has been exhibited internationally, featured in Art in America (January 2020), and extended into artist's books such as The Book of GANesis and GANcommedia Erudita.
