Kevin Romond is a Wellington, New Zealand-based visual artist and visual effects veteran with over twenty years in the industry, credited on Weta Digital productions including The Adventures of Tintin, Rise of the Planet of the Apes and The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, in roles spanning simulation artist, CG supervisor, FX department head, pipeline supervisor and special projects director. He holds a BFA from the School of Visual Arts in New York and served as Director of the Miramar Creative Centre, a graduate facility of Victoria University of Wellington, from 2020 to 2024; he remains a Senior Lecturer in animation and visual effects. Alongside his film work he maintains a studio practice spanning pre-modern painting techniques, sculpture and installation, XR, real-time graphics and machine learning, and beginning in 2019 he minted early GAN experiments on SuperRare under the name kromond.
