Mario Klingemann (b. 1970, Laatzen, Germany) is a German artist and self-described "neurographer" widely regarded as a pioneer in the use of neural networks and machine learning in art. A Google Arts & Culture resident from 2016 to 2018, he won the Lumen Prize Gold Award in 2018, and his autonomous GAN installation "Memories of Passersby I" became the first self-contained generative AI artwork offered at auction when it appeared at Sotheby's in 2019. He is also the creator of Botto, a decentralized autonomous AI artist launched in 2021. He lives and works in Munich.
