Robbie Barrat (b. 1999, Dublin; raised in Shenandoah Junction, West Virginia) began building and open-sourcing GAN tools as a teenager, and he became the first artist to tokenize work on SuperRare in 2018, with works from his "AI Generated Nude Portrait" series. His open-source GAN code was later used, without initial credit, by the French collective Obvious for "Edmond de Belamy", the AI portrait sold at Christie's for $432,500 in 2018. After working at NVIDIA and in a Stanford bioinformatics lab straight out of high school, he moved to Europe and now runs an art and design studio in Paris, represented by L'Avant Galerie Vossen.
