Tom White, known online as dribnet, is a New Zealand-based artist and researcher with more than 25 years of experience in computational design and generative systems. He studied computer graphics and visual design in MIT's Aesthetics and Computation Group under John Maeda (MS thesis, 1998) and lectures in computational design and creative AI at the Victoria University of Wellington School of Design. His "Perception Engines" project (2018) uses ensembles of ImageNet-trained neural networks to generate abstract physical prints that machine-vision systems confidently recognise as everyday objects. His computational art has been exhibited internationally, including at MoMA, Cooper Union, Ars Electronica, SIGGRAPH, the National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts and the NeurIPS Art Gallery.
